Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-07-11

Using our service

Booking us, buying from us, or simply reading this site means these terms apply. The photographs, words, and design here are ours unless credited otherwise, and republishing them commercially needs our written permission first. Prices and availability can change without notice, but any order already placed is honoured at the price you saw when you placed it. If we ever have to refuse or cancel an order, the refund is immediate and complete.

Questions about these terms? hello@sprucecrestline.com.

Fixed fees, honestly fixed

Our fixed-fee pricing covers everything named in the package: shooting time, editing, gallery delivery, and the listed prints or album. There are no surprise line items for 'premium retouching' or gallery hosting. Anything genuinely outside the package — extra hours, a second photographer, rush delivery — is quoted in writing before we commit.

Shooting in Kyoto venues

Temples, shrines, and traditional venues around Kyoto each have their own photography rules, and some charge commission fees or restrict flash and tripods. We know the usual ones and handle the arrangements, but venue fees are passed through at cost and a venue's refusal on the day is outside our control — if it happens, we adapt the plan with you rather than abandon it.

Delivery times

Portrait and commercial galleries arrive within two weeks. Wedding galleries take up to six weeks in high season, and albums a further four after you approve the layout. If a deadline matters — a visa application, an anniversary — say so at booking and we will commit to it in writing or tell you honestly that we cannot.

Cancellation tiers

More than 60 days out: full refund minus a 10,000 yen administration fee. Sixty to fourteen days: half the fee. Under fourteen days: the full fee, though we always offer one free date change first. If we cancel for any reason, everything is refunded and we help find a replacement photographer.

Law and venue

These terms are governed by Japanese law. Disputes go to the Kyoto District Court — though in nine years no conversation has ever needed to.

Second photographers and assistants

Larger weddings include a second photographer or an assistant, named in your package. They work under our direction, are bound by the same confidentiality we are, and their images are edited and delivered by us as one consistent set — you never need to chase two people for one wedding.

Albums and physical goods

Album production starts after you approve the layout, and materials are ordered per book, so approved albums cannot be refunded — though binding or print defects are corrected free, however long ago the album arrived. Replacement covers and additional parent albums remain orderable for five years while your masters are archived.

Force majeure

Typhoons, earthquakes, venue closures, and other events beyond anyone's control cancel or move a booking without penalty on either side; deposits roll to the new date. If a wedding is postponed wholesale, your package moves with it at the original price, even if our rates have risen since.

Updates to these terms

Your booking is governed by the terms published on the day your deposit was paid; later revisions apply only to later bookings. We keep dated copies of every previous version and will send you the one that covers your contract on request.
